No, misgendering me is not okay or justifiable. Yes, this is a big deal.

Hello Pronouns Stickers from www.storeenvy.com I’m not going to sugarcoat this one, okay? Are you ready? It is never okay to misgender me. It is not okay to call me by my birth name. It is not okay to refer to me using masculine pronouns. It is not okay to describe me as being anyone’s son, brother, or husband. CJRRC’s 32nd Hangover 5k - 23:24

Yup, I look like a dude here. Photo credit: FueledByLOLZ http://instagram.com/fueledbylolz I don’t know whose idea it was to run a race on New Year’s Day, but I gotta tell you, it felt about as pleasant as you’d imagine it would. After having a few too many drinks last night and possibly getting a little emotional and ending up in a bedroom at my friends’ house holding back some tears, this morning wasn’t exactly awesome. When dysphoria strikes...

This past weekend, my wife and I finally got around to seeing Frozen, which has instantly become my favorite non-Pixar Disney movie! Seriously, it’s that good! Unfortunately, as amazing as Frozen is, it was also incredibly triggering of feelings I haven’t had in a while. My old pal dysphoria decided it was time to visit town. Gender dysphoria and I go way back, in fact, I can’t remember a time in my life when she wasn’t around. [Read More]

Looking forward to 2014

Well, 2014 is just about here and I guess that means it’s time to put together a list of goals for the upcoming year. NJ transgender birth certificate bill is being sent to Gov Christie's desk to be signed. Please help!

This week, the New Jersey state senate passed bill A4097 which, if signed into law, would allow for transgender people born in New Jersey to update their birth certificates without the need for genital reconstruction surgery (or gender-confirming surgery…or whatever other name you feel is appropriate for “bottom surgery”). There is currently no indication whether or not Gov. Christie will sign A4097 into law, however, he is considering public comment on the issue. [Read More]

Looking back at my favorite moments of 2013

On my old blog, the pre-transition one, I used to enjoy doing end of the year posts so I figured why not continue the tradition here with a list of my favorite parts of 2013! *Walt Disney World and the Goofy Challenge* 2013 started out much like the last four years did, with an awesome trip to Disney World with my wife! This year, we ran the Goofy Challenge (half marathon one day and a marathon the next) for the second year in a row and it was every bit as awesome and magical as it’s ever been. [Read More]
